PZ3TX blackmarket exposed!

Okay so “exposed” may be a little too strong, but we have discovered that our new PZ3TX is not just fast in the water, but a little too fast out of transition too. And not in a Rasmus Henning “just so comfy I forgot to take it off for the bike” way either.

The PZ3TX has obviously developed a market in the seedy underworld of Ironman.

We’ve now become aware of at least half a dozen swim skins that “disappeared” from the transition at Kona. The thieves targeted all and sundry; pro’s and age groupers alike. Even third place getter Marino Vanhoenacker was not immune to the epidemic (they really should have got him to sign it before they pinched it – that would have certainly boosted it’s street value).

Our R&D department is currently working on GPS tracking systems and we have entered discussions with the US Treasury about some kind of label minting system in order to reduce the chances of a potential counterfeiting ring developing.

Marketing Manager Dean Jackson commented “due to the new swimskin rules being so late to be approved, we only had the PZ3TX on the market just one week before IM Hawaii. But people should be aware that we will have more suits on the market shortly, and there is no need to resort to theft to secure one”.

Rhodsey models the PZ3TX at our store in Kona. Then he ran like he stole it. He did't.

Fun in Kona

It's Tuesday before race-day in Kona and everyone seems to be in good spirits. The blueseventy pointzero3's are out in force at the swim start area each morning. We snapped some pros as they wondered around this little town that's gearing up for a huge day on saturday.

Terenzo Bozzone, although not racing of course but over in Kona to support his sponsors, gets ready for his group ride with Specialized. Gina Fergusson stops by to say hi also.

Ain Alar Juhanson in his pointzero3+ going for a quick pre-race swim.

Ruther Beke explains the pointzero3 sizing to a friend of his.

blueseventy Kona arrivals

Kona is already starting to fill up with athletes for the most important race of the Ironman calendar year - the Ironman World Championships - to be held next Saturday the 11th of October. blueseventy's Stadler and his teammates catch up with Guy at Lava Java...

....and blueseventy athletes Chrissie, Luke and Luke's sister Jac get snapped at the pool.

Only a few more days

The 2008 Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii are now just a few days away. We are partnering with K-Swiss, Fuel Belt, fi'zi:k, nuun and you can find us every morning from 9 -12 at Lava Java. We'll be there mingling with the athletes (a few pros are going to stop by too), running a few competitions, and giving out entries into the K-Swiss & Friends After Party. See you all there.

PS: it's not too late to get your pointzero3 still; we have plenty in Kona right now! Call our US office on +1.206.632.1994 to find out your closest dealer in Kona.

Natascha Badmann swims with blueseventy

It is no secret that blueseventy’s wetsuits and swimskins are ranked as the best in the world. That’s why some of the best athletes put their trust in the equipment with the blue and orange logo.

Natascha Badmann from Switzerland is one such legend who has chosen to partner with blueseventy. After a horrible bike crash at last year’s Ford Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, she is still deciding if she will race in Kona next week.

Natascha will wear both blueseventy wetsuits and swimskins to have the best possible performance opportunities during the swim split.

We wish her the best for the future and hope that she will stay in triathlon for many more years.

Are you ready for Kona?

Last year we were completely overwhelmed with requests for our blueseventy swimskins and over 600 athletes raced in them. If we had more available, the numbers would have been even more staggering. We'll be better prepared for the storm this year and you can find us at Lava Java this year. :-)

Lava Java of course is the the main hot spot in Kona where everybody goes leading up to the event. It is very close to the expo on Alii Drive and in easy walking distance from the pier where the race starts.
